About this workshop

In this presentation Duncan introduces Monte Carlo simulation as a way to deal with uncertainty. Aimed at people unfamiliar with the technique, he shows with a worked example how it can be used to generate timely, actionable information which allows people to make better decisions, and why colourful heatmaps cannot do the same.

Duncan Harwood

Duncan Harwood has served as an army officer, as risk engineer on a multi-billion dollar oilfield project, as regional resilience coordinator for the Scottish Government, and Chief Risk Officer for the City of Edinburgh Council. He holds two engineering degrees and an MBA.
